SLEIPNIR

Odin of mythology rode Sleipnir, a mighty eight-legged stallion with runic characters carved into its tusks. Sleipnir galloped faster than the wind and overcame all obstacles. In Johanna's wonderful Icelandic knitted jumper, you will find Sleipnir galloping with her many legs and fluttering tail. Under Ulja's horse, on the sleeves and on the sturdy hood, there are embroidery patterns that respect runic writing and early mythology.

The hoodie is designed to be close-fitting, and the fit is increased by the narrowing of the waist. The hood is also snug and snug, a bit like a helmet cap that protects against the wind. In the basic diagrams, embroidery is knitted with a maximum of three colors at a time, but for those who are not afraid of a challenge, there are alternative diagrams that give the patterns depth and multidimensionality (up to five colors can be knitted at the same time). The end result of the latter rewards with its showiness, but working requires patience and attentiveness.

The photos of Sleipnir are according to more challenging diagrams, in the simpler version, for example, the patterns on the sleeve are a little simpler and Sleipnir with the legs is made with only one color while the background colors vary. The wool of Icelandic sheep has developed in the harsh conditions of the northern island nation and is characterized by good resistance to wind and humidity. In Iceland, clothes made from these wools are used a little, depending on the thickness, both as inner and outer clothes.
In a Sleipnir hoodie, you can go outside very well even in a little frost or in a light rain, especially when the surface of the garment has become wrinkled due to post-treatment and use. Thanks to its fit, it also fits well under outerwear.

MATERIALS, SIZES AND ACCESSORIES
Istex Lettlopi yarn and 4.5 mm double pointed needles + 80 cm circular needles. More detailed materials can be found in the attached pictures.

Note the density of the instructions is 20 s / 10 cm, i.e. a little more than the general Lettlop density, i.e. a little denser. Be careful with the handwriting to get the same density, because with a looser handwriting, all dimensions will increase, especially the height of the arch. If made according to the instructions, the hoodie will be just the right size, but with a looser hand, the fit can be anything.
